ABMC Granted U.S. Patent for Lateral Flow Immunoassay Device
Covers Expanding Saliva Diagnostics Product Line

KINDERHOOK, N.Y. -- (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Aug. 22, 2006 -- American Bio Medica Corporation (NASDAQ: ABMC) announced today that they have been granted a patent from the United States Patent and Trademark Office related to the Company's existing and future products in the area of saliva diagnostics.

The issued patent, U.S. Patent number 7,090,803, is directed to lateral flow immunoassay test devices that need treatment and incubation to the samples to get a meaningful result. Samples might include saliva, urine, blood, plasma, serum, or cerebral spinal fluid.

ABMC Chief Scientific Officer Martin Gould stated: "We are very aware of the growing importance of being able to test for drugs of abuse and other various disease states in oral fluids. This particular patent is the first to be issued in a series that we have applied for to the U.S. Patent and Trademark office related to saliva diagnostics. Our R&D team is committed to making continuous breakthroughs in oral fluid testing, not only including our current drugs of abuse product line, but in infectious disease such as HIV."
