ABMC Announces Expansion of Sales of Its Rapid Drug Screen(R) in Spain

KINDERHOOK, N.Y. -- (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Oct. 25, 2006 -- American Bio Medica Corporation (NASDAQ: ABMC) has announced today that they have received an initial order of 80,000 units for its Rapid Drug Screen (RDS(R)) from Diagnosticos Rapidos De Espana of Sevilla, Spain, ABMC's distributor in Spain since June 2004. The value of the order exceeds $400,000 (USD).

Diagnosticos Rapidos, will launch a sales program in December with a television and radio campaign. Jose Maria Reyes Dorado, president of Diagnosticos Rapidos, has forecasted sales of between 500,000 and 975,000 units for the first year of the project.

The RDS, ABMC's original one-step lateral flow immunoassay test for the simultaneous detection of 2 to 10 drugs of abuse in urine, is FDA-cleared for professional use and CE Marked. Dorado forecasts that 75% of the tests sold will detect 5 drugs, with the remaining 25% detecting 8.

ABMC Chief Executive Officer Stan Cipkowski stated, "We have been working very closely with Jose Maria and his associates at Diagnosticos Rapidos De Espana for over two years. The progress they have made in their current markets for our RDS is impressive and we expect to see them succeed in other markets as well."

In a related announcement, the Company reported that they have recently received the NSAI Certificate of Registration of Quality System ISO 13485:2003. ISO 13485:2003 is the most comprehensive ISO quality standard specific to medical devices. Requirements for this standard include design controls, process controls, special processes, traceability, record retention, and regulatory actions - all critical for the medical device industry.

Cipkowski noted, "This ISO certification gives our customers added confidence that ABMC will meet or exceed their quality expectations, and is evidence of ABMC's commitment to all of our customers, including our customers outside of the United States."
